Don’t read over this in too much of a hurry. The testimony is the word spoken. We know what a testimony is: a witness in a court of law gives a testimony, a statement. Preachers testify to Christ and his suffering and death on Calvary, and all the gospel and the truth of the Bible. This testimony of Christ was confirmed in you. The Greek word translated ‘confirmed’ means established. There is one translation that says that the testimony of Christ was ‘foundationed’ in you. You cannot say that in English, but actually it is a perfect translation. That is what the Greek original means. Established is good, but based on something is the idea behind the word – ‘foundationed in you’. You didn't just hear it and agree with it. Something happened, whereby it became the foundation of your life. Everything you did and thought was based on this.
