There is the same word again: ‘for ensamples [dies, templates, patterns]’ – of course they are. What good was it to the exodus generation that Moses, in time, wrote all this down and made a record of it? They had died by that time; they had passed from the scene.
Love him; go to him every day. Give him at least fifteen minutes in prayer. Don't come and say, ‘How do I fill the fifteen minutes?’ Put a slip of paper in the back of your Bible. Write on it all the departments of prayer: worship, adoration, thanksgiving, thanksgiving for God's plan of salvation, thanksgiving for my salvation. There are so many things to pray for! Then you pray to intercede for others. It is a good thing to pray early prayers of intercession, because they are unselfish prayers. Adore the Lord, intercede for loved ones. Why are they not being saved? Because I am not interceding. My intercessory prayer for loved ones may be ten years, twenty years long. The longer you delay, the later they are saved. Yes, it is not cause and effect, but it is food for thought. Intercede early. Make a list of the people on your intercessory list. Remember your predicaments and your problems. Remember to thank God for your blessings, for the answers to prayer yesterday, last week, and the week before. Your fifteen minutes is gone. You will be coming to say, ‘How outrageous you should say fifteen minutes is enough!’ And love the Lord, thank him, and praise him. Praise him for your husband, praise him for your wife. You praise for your wife and your husband and pray for them every day, and the children, and then you are much more sweet tempered, and patient. Come out to worship; bare your soul to the Lord, to his reproof, to his encouragements, to his word of doctrine, word of exhortation. Never as Christians do we want to be those who are complacent and proud, and imagine that we cannot fall.
