We are very aware of that different creatures in this world have different bodies. We are not talking about a detailed biological description of body tissue here, but just a generalised term. All bodies are not the same bodies, we might say. Different kinds of flesh are given to human beings, beasts, fish, and birds. The original Greek means more working beasts, domestic animals. These differences even in this world are illustrative of the differences between man in this world and in the next. Don't be surprised that there are differences between the earthly and the heavenly, Paul will argue. Of course the underlying argument behind all of this reasoning is special creation. God has made the various kinds that we find in this world. They may have been created with the ability to adapt within limits, but they are basically stable kinds. We can look at each of them and essentially say: God made that and he made it the way he wanted it to be as it pleased him. The Creator’s skill and capacity to create variation is not exhausted by what we find in this world. He can make far more wonderful bodies than any we have seen so far. Why would it be too hard for him to make glorified bodies in the future for his people? It is foolish to think that it is impossible for God to do as he pleases with the resurrection body. It is foolish to think that God cannot do whatever he pleases.
