Look at this verse – one of the most remarkable verses in the Bible is the application to thinking about the resurrection and the marvels of the resurrection body. Here is the great song.
Sin always hurts. If only we could hate sin; if only we could fear sin! Every sin you and I commit wrecks our conscience, hardens our heart, hurts someone, hurts ourselves, offends against God and our Saviour. But it hurts us, and it brings us under punishment and discipline. Every sin! The sting of death is sin. That bears thinking about.
Many, many people when they die, in their last moments, when they know they are dying, they become terrified. ‘Where is my soul going?’ Their conscience may trouble them, and the things they have done, and they know they are not right with God. Some are so far from God, that they seem to die in a kind of ignorant peace. But for many people the sting of death is painful, even in the last moments of life.
