1 Corinthians 15:6

We are not told much about Christ’s appearance to the five hundred witnesses. This is the only place in the Bible where they are referred to. Was it the same as the meeting with the disciples in Galilee? Very likely, because at this stage there were probably not as many as five hundred believers in Jerusalem. In the year opening of the Book of Acts, we read there were one hundred and twenty disciples. Five hundred is a lot: people who come from all over the place, so that this was probably the gathering at Galilee. How many of them were still alive at the time Paul wrote this letter? Three hundred, four hundred? Yes, perhaps, but since Paul was writing twenty-two years later, some had fallen asleep.
