A faith that stands in the wisdom of men cannot meet the attacks of the enemy of souls. More than human wisdom is needed to keep us from turning aside from the heavenly way. Only the shield that God supplies is sufficient to face the flaming arrows of the evil one, and so our faith must be built upon the revelation of God which cannot be mistaken, which does not need to be revised. All human knowledge and wisdom are limited, and so we are not surprised when men change their minds about what is true. It is natural for doubt to come into the mind when human beings start to test their own ideas. But the soul will not stand such doubts and fear, and it needs to rest on something unchangeable and eternal, and this we only have access to in the gospel which came down from heaven.
