This verse may be trouble you on first reading. It sounds almost a little arrogant, not an awfully nice thing to say, but that is because we understand it incorrectly.
Hopefully, the apostle would not say that to you. Hopefully you do not think in a worldly way. Hopefully you do not admire only people who would be admired in this world. And so therefore he would say to you, ‘Your judgement counts with me.’
‘Yea, I judge not mine own self.’ Alternatively, these words may advance the argument, so that Paul is saying, ‘So far am I from accepting the judgment of men that I do not even accept my own judgment of my ministry. I am accountable to Christ who sent me, and the only evaluation of my ministry that matter is his evaluation on the last day.’
