Now we come to the head-on treatment of the freedom heresy. There is a close connection between what follows and what went before; it is a closely knit argument.
Consider the use of worldly music in worship. It does not benefit. It brings the world into the church. It confuses believers. They don't know the difference between the church and the world any more. It is absolutely forbidden. It is from the wrong stable, the wrong camp. It is inflaming the wrong passions. It is associating with the wrong things. You can think of many other examples. If you habitually buy things which are much too expensive for you, which are just luxuries, which are showing off, that is not contributing to the church or to you as an individual Christian.
Which of the Ten Commandments does drunkenness breach? Well, you know Christians always used to say that drunkenness breaches every single one, and if it doesn't breach one of the Ten Commandments directly, it incites to the breaking of that commandment.
