1 Corinthians 7:17 Commentary and Bible Study

To remain single a noble calling, subject to a gift from God. It is your portion ‘as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called everyone.’ If you are single, it is a calling. If you are married, it is a calling. ‘So let him walk.’ If you are married to an unbeliever, it is a calling. Provided that he or she is not cruel to you, it is a calling in which we pray and we prove the Lord. These instructions once again are inspired – ‘and so ordain I in all the churches.’ That is a strong word. So I completely and thoroughly arrange is what it means, in all churches without exception. It is the law for the New Testament.
