Comments
The glory of the sons of God is hidden from the eyes of men, so that, lacking faith, they find it easy to deny the reality of the new birth. Believers too must not judge themselves by outward appearance because for now God’s transforming work is entirely inward. God has also promised us the redemption of our bodies but exactly what that will mean has not been revealed. What we do know is that God is now sanctifying us and we are being inwardly transformed into the image of Christ as we gaze on his glory; that process of transformation will be completed when Christ returns. His glory which we now see through a glass darkly, we shall then see face to face, and immediately we will be fully transformed.
Application
Our future hope must not be judged by our present bodily condition, but by the invisible renewing of the inner man.
Questions
How are we changed by beholding the glory of Christ? As the Spirit shows us graces in Christ which we have not known before, he puts in our hearts a strong desire to be like our Lord and at the same time empowers us to be changed into his image.
