Before anyone can turn the gospel into a servant of his lusts, arguing that he can continue in sin that grace may abound, he has got to alter the purpose for which Christ came into the world.
So great is Christ’s opposition to sin that even though he was faced with the hardest choices that anyone has ever faced, he would not even for a moment ease his situation by resorting to sin.
Our salvation requires us not only to be forgiven but to be utterly changed. We cannot come for pardon unless we also come to be made holy. He came to take sin away both from our account and from our hearts.
