Well Jonathan replies in similar vein. ‘He said unto him, ‘God forbid.
That is how we should see each other. Bonds of loyalty and friendship between believers transcend all other ties on earth. These are members of our heavenly family; they are our eternal companions. We love those of our natural family and desire the best for them, especially in spiritual matters, but that family will pass away, and we have been made the children of God by adoption. When we look at each other, we don't weigh each other up or appreciate each other by appearance, nor even by personality. We don't look for ourselves in the other person, so that we only like people who are similar to ourselves. That is a terrible thing. We look at each other as children of God, and we will stand with each other, and help each other, and love each other because we are in his service. We are bringing in the elect of God, in his name and by the power of his Spirit. We are fighting the Lord’s battles; we are loyal to him above all others.
