1 Thessalonians 5:10 Commentary and Bible Study

The plan in God’s mind is to give us a very different future. Not wrath which we deserve for our foul sin, but a bright new future purchased for us by Jesus Christ. Through Christ we have eternal security so that whether we wake of sleep – that is, whether we continue to live, or whether we experience physical death – we cannot be separated from the life that is in him. He has united us with himself and he will not allow death to take us away from him. Therefore just as he rose from the dead, so he will raise up all those who are in the grave at the time of his coming. Having atoned for our sin, there is no further obstacle to our glorification, and it simply awaits the day of his power according to God’s timetable.
