1 Thessalonians 5:13 Commentary and Bible Study

The word ‘esteem’ has perhaps changed its meaning a little since our King James translation, and esteem now suggests taking a very high view and holding a high regard for, but that would be over-translation, because the Greek indicates consider or regard them, estimate them ‘highly in love for their work’s sake.’ So it does not say pamper them, or make a fuss of them, or turn them into heroes.
