The apostle replies, and this tells us his reliance on God’s power. ‘For though we walk in the flesh.
That is the tragedy of society today, it walks entirely after the flesh, and society tries to steal the mind of man by human techniques entirely. Society has changed over the last 50, 60 years. In what way? Has it changed by reasoning? Has it changed due to atheistic society saying, ‘Look here, your religion is no good for these reasons. Here is the superior thinking of humanism.’ No, it does not do that by and large. It advances its cause by subtle brain washing. It uses the power of entertainment and fiction, and it turns people round to the opposite of Christian values, so that society which years ago had firm opinions about sexuality and sin is turned round mainly by fiction – fiction in which the good men and women are all immoral, and the bad men and women are those dreadful, old-fashioned moralists. It floods this message out of the televisions and the radios and the books non-stop, until society’s mind is changed, brainwashed. Then the threats begin. If you are out of line, if you think any differently from this, you cannot have public posts; you cannot be people of significance. You cannot even teach your views without being threatened with being fired. You cannot stand on the old moral principles any longer. A whole new way of thinking is brought in based on there being no God, no revelation from God, no absolute standards written on the human heart which God insists upon and will judge us by.
