He explains his resilience is due to a disposition of faith, which was also the spirit of faith which David had. With all our difficulties, we go on serving the Lord. How do we respond when we are persecuted? We look forward. This what we are heading towards. You will be a much weaker person if you do not think of heavenly glory, and unless you are doing it regularly, it may not get hold of you. It is vital, however young you are to be thinking of heaven. Christ was publicly raised, and God will raise us up by Jesus. There is going to be a presenting of the saved for all of heaven and earth to see.The Christian looks forward to his great reward. We suffer these problems through life; we enjoy the great consolation and the deliverances. And then it comes to the final journey. We are dying all the time, but the greatest opposition will be the moment of death. Psalm 116 is quoted: ‘According as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you,’ in due course. The final deliverance will be the deliverance from death. This is a wonderful psalm because it speaks of trouble and calling on the name of the Lord, but also of confidence.
