There is a danger that if we have started with a good intention we can fail to follow through. There may be some self-deception here, because we see that our intention was good, and we believe the Lord is pleased with this intention, and so he is, but we may not immediately complete the thing we purposed to do. Perhaps we initially delay for good reason because we know that circumstances will improve in the future. But having put it off once, this may become a habit, and we can lack the self-discipline to do something which takes a concerted act of will and we become those who keep putting off the completion of the act. All the time we look back at our original good intention and allow this to comfort us too much. If so, then we need to rouse ourselves before the Lord to renew our original good will and give to the Lord what we have said we were going to give him.
