2 Corinthians 8:12 Commentary and Bible Study

We are looking at the apostle’s teaching on gifts and principle of sowing and reaping. Churches should certainly not be teaching these things all of the time and the Prosperity Gospel teachers get this subject completely out of balance. In a normal ministry this matter will be taught somewhat rarely according to need, but we come to a passage specifically on the subject, we look at the instructions given by God through the apostle. God approves our giving not on the basis of the amount that we give but on account of the willingness of our hearts. He sees that you are someone who plans what he can do and takes seriously those intentions. There are a range of matters connected with giving in all its forms and it is so important to us, especially in these days with the Prosperity Gospel people twisting these passages and misinterpreting them as they love to do. But we come and we see what the Lord really requires of us.
