One thing that really stood out in Paul’s minds and for which he commends the Macedonians was that this act of giving had not been done first and foremost as something for Paul, in response to his request, but had been done first as an act of dedication to the Lord, and to please him. That was the right way round and showed a well-ordered attitude in their hearts.
