How careless we can be if we take up an offering in church as an act of worship; we almost do it with our eyes shut; we almost do not think about it; it can almost be a matter of habit. That is wrong. When we give, we first give ourselves to the Lord. The offering small or large is an expression of the giving of ourselves. Money given to the Lord without you being given to the Lord is a foolishness. You cannot buy God. You come with a willing heart and you give yourself to the Lord. This is the problem with electronic giving. It is so needed and convenient, and many people give by electronic means, so you do not see it and you do not feel it and you do not know about it. So we have got an extra responsibility. My gift this week, this month, I give myself to the Lord. It is his not mine. Everything I have is his, I dedicate myself to him. Here I am, Lord, take me.
