When Christ comes again, it may be that we have already died. Our souls will have gone to the paradise of Christ, but when he comes he will bring us with him and our resurrected bodies will join our souls. And if we are still alive when Christ comes, then we will be gathered up, given resurrection bodies and joined with him, and what an amazing sight it will be to all those who are outside his kingdom. When he comes, those people to whom we witnessed will see us with him and that hidden relationship won’t be a hidden thing any more; it will be open to view. You are with him, you always said you were and now you will be vindicated and it will be seen that you are with him. People didn’t believe you, they smirked and they scoffed, but then you will be vindicated. You really were his ambassador, as you said you were. But – and this is a bit of fancy – what if, when Christ appears and you are with him, and if people who knew you could see you then; what if they were able to say, ‘We never knew, we never realised, that man or that woman belonged to Christ. When we looked at them they seemed to be all for this world, all out for what they could get, enjoying riches and plenty.’ It will be a terrible thing if the day of vindication turned out to be a day of shock, because people never realised where we stood and now they see us with the King of Glory.
