Colossians 3:7
Comments
The Colossians had committed all those sins. It was a very impure society in Colossae. All kinds of fornication, all kinds of sexual sin were prominent in their society. But now they are saved, they have been converted, so they have to mortify any possible return of these things, put it to death. Now here is where the apostle really gives us teaching which is sobering and warning to all people. Moving from fornication, look at the terms which he uses – ‘uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence.’ When you see those terms and you understand their meaning, you realise why the apostle calls these things ‘your members which are upon the earth’.
