All admit the words are very obscure. ‘And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away’ – what time is that? We have already come across a somewhat similar expression in chapter 9:27, but there we have interpreted it in a positive way, and the expression here is not quite the same.
All our consolation is in Christ. He alone can defeat our enemies. Until he comes we must wait patiently, assured that he is mindful of us, and knows all that we are suffering for his name’s sake. We are called to be faithful. To wait for the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days is to wait for Christ’s return. When he comes we will see clearly why he required us to go through these things, and we will see the great advantage that comes to us by doing so.
