The angel answers Daniel’s question. Much of what is said is a repetition of verses 7-9, and a rephrasing of Daniel’s question in verses 19-22.
Today we see moral laws being overturned, and we see the stamping out of the memory of anything Christian. Think of the things that have been organised and held where all reference to any Christian heritage and history has to be airbrushed out and done away with. Christian ethics have preserved nations from decay, even where people were not converted. Grind down church; that is the strategy. Change values in a way that has never been done before.
The Christian life is a serious life. Don’t think (especially when young), how can I fill my life with pleasure? What shall I do on Tuesday, on Thursday? Play here and go there? The believer may have repented of sin, but he can still think like a worldling. Yes, we can enjoy ourselves, but not all the time. There is a serious work to be done. Even though some terrible things will happen in the coming decades, we want to be used by God to win trophies of grace, and be ready for when Christ returns.
