Wisdom does not come without labour. It is a mountain that a man climbs and all the while he consoles himself that his effort is worthwhile because of the advantage that he gains.
Both the wise man and the fool die in the same way for God is determined to reduce all human achievement to nothing as long as men will not seek him and trust in him. So then, wisdom, the greatest asset that we can have on earth, is worthless and will be counted as nothing. It might as well never have existed in the first place and men and women might as well not have striven for it at such personal cost. Unless we start to measure things from the perspective of eternity, we do not understand anything as we should.
