Here was yet another anxiety which dawned on him. Driven by a powerful urge to work and to gather substance for himself in this life, Solomon found that he was storing up not for himself, but for another.
Are you ready to spend your whole life working to give to another? Not someone of your choice, not even someone you necessarily like. If you gain many possessions in this life, then at the end of life, all you have gathered will be taken from you and passed to someone else. Will he show any gratitude to you? Probably not. He will think it is his right. He may not be worthy of any of it. But what can you do about it? Nothing.
Of course we should be willing to work for the good of others, but when a man who seeks satisfaction from possessions gives himself to the pursuit of them, he is not working consciously for others, but for himself. Would he really work with such energy if he thought he was preparing all he gained for another?
