We are probably still thinking of life on the farm, although there are also other situations to which this applies. There is a time to slaughter for the table, when the animal has grown to full maturity; but another time it is right to nurture and protect life.
So many of the decisions we make are governed by forces outside of our control. We do not like to see ourselves as pushed around by circumstances in this way, yet this is an accurate picture of our lives. We are not free as we like to think we are. All human beings are subject to the living God who has ‘determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation (Acts 17:26)’
