Solomon now deals with a number of myths that the world tells us about God and faith in God, and he exposes the errors in them. He quotes things which all would affirm and then knocks them down.
Solomon says these things to encourage that disillusionment with the world that the unbeliever must go through if he is ever to understand what the world really is. We have to lose our naïve trust in human nature if we are ever to see the world from the Bible’s perspective. One feature of the unbelieving mind is an unwarranted trust in the basic goodness of human nature, a reluctance to give up trusting in human society.
Most justice systems have an appeal process. Failure of justice at a lower level can be corrected by proper justice at a higher level. What really matters is the nature of the highest court in the land. Where earthly justice fails, heavenly justice will correct all things. That is the answer to all the unsolved and unpunished crimes that take place in this life, but it also means that we too are going to be judged. Are we ready for that? How can we hide what we have done?
