The purpose of these verses is to magnify wisdom and to sing its praises. It is something which goes on and on.
Wisdom is the most exalted study and the most practical study. It draws us on with a tremendous hunger because it reveals its value to us as we proceed, and at the same time holds promise of yet greater discoveries. Solomon does not speak this way because he despairs of success or because he would discourage us, but he says it to spur us on to seek out those profound depths which fill the soul with joy. No one who comes to Christ for salvation, for wisdom will ever be disappointed. The truth is that our imaginations are not big enough to grasp what God has given to his people.
