Ephesians 1:11

As sons and daughters of the living God we also have a heavenly inheritance. An inheritance is never earned; an inheritance is something you have by right. It may be a small inheritance, or if you have a rich family, it may be a large inheritance, but you do nothing to earn it or deserve it. It is true in the world you could be disinherited, but that can never be the case with Christ. The inheritance is something which comes to you by right; he has purchased it for you; he has bought it, and it is your right, the inheritance is by birth. For us of course, it is by the new birth into the kingdom of God, when we are born again as children of God and therefore receive an inheritance. Inheritance rather signifies certainty. We have an inheritance; it is something that will never be taken away. Again, it represents a mighty change. When we enter into that inheritance, we are rich beyond all description, spiritually and in every conceivable sense. ‘In whom also we have obtained an inheritance.’ We will not receive it until the last day, the gathering, but we have it in possession even now. That is the nature of an inheritance, and it is all by the counsel of his own will.
