Galatians 4:10

As evidence of their error he cites their adoption of Jewish observation of Sabbath days (Leviticus 23:3), of months (Numbers 10:10; 28:11), of feast days, and of jubilee years, all of which belonged to the ceremonial law. Israel was bound by these laws, but Christ having come, all these things are fulfilled. It was not legitimate to argue that because God had once commanded obedience to the ceremonial law, there could be nothing intrinsically wrong with it. To worship God other than in the way he has commanded is sin. The Lord is more specific about worship than about any other part of our lives. All of these things passed away because they all related to the coming of Christ and pictured his work of redemption. Therefore when God sent his Son into the world these things were no longer required as their meaning had been fulfilled in Christ. To hold onto them was to deny that Christ had fulfilled them, for why should one want to keep the shadow when the reality is present?
Application
It was a matter of sadness and amazement to Paul that the Galatians could abandon their trust in Christ alone for something so powerless as the observation of times. Let us be careful never to substitute man-made additions for the worship that God has commanded. We must not add anything to the simplicity of New Testament worship. And we must be careful to check that all that we do is consistent with our position as sons. Woe to the leaders of the churches if they start to add man-made novelties and treat them as of equal importance with divine ordinances.
