The animal kingdom, it seems, was also restricted to eating vegetation. We should not underestimate the profound change that took place in biology at the fall, when God changed the whole nature of this world to reflect the damage that had been done by sin. Then for the first time, death came into the world for man and for the other living creatures. Why would we have any difficulty believing that animal behaviour was previously so different, if we take seriously what we have just read about God creating every creature according to his will, and assigning each creature its form and nature?
