They were designing life for themselves as they wanted it, in every sense, where they lived and how they lived. Early in the history of the human race, man’s capacity to organise himself against his Creator is evident, and there is no doubt he will succeed if he is not restrained, so something very significant is going to be done. What has one language got to do with it? Well obviously, if you have all got one language, then somebody who wants to consolidate you into one organisation, one force, one working group, has an easy task of it. If there is only one language, then the godless can more easily infect the godly. As soon as men have discovered the joys of cooperation, their pride rises, and they trust that can achieve anything that they want to. If there is only one language, disobedience can begin to feel normal. You notice this in society. People all think together. If they have all got one language, then disobedience will feel normal. Nobody wants to disperse around the world. Everybody wants to worship, as an alternative, the gods of the skies and the heavens. It feels normal because so many people want to do it.
Application
Even thirty years ago, most people were against this whole gay, homosexuality business. Now, most people are accommodating towards it, because they think, this is what the media has accomplished, and that everyone thinks that way. People want to think like everyone else, and as soon as the perception comes in that everybody thinks this, there is additional pressure to conform, whether they used to believe that or not. That is how foolish human beings can be.
