Here are more firsts: the first reference to righteousness; the first use of language like ‘counted it to him’. This is the language of imputation, the language of justification by faith.
It is a great thing to believe the promises of God – all of them – because if you believe the promises of God, you are affirming that he is always truthful, that he is righteous, that he is faithful, that he keeps his word. You’re affirming that he has infinite power to keep his promises in his own time. All you are seemingly doing is believing his promise, but you're believing much more than that in reality.
