Here, the subject changes just a little and God says unto him, ‘I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.’ So the first confirmation that God gives to Abram that he will inherit the land is that that was the purpose that God called him for; that was what he promised him from the very beginning. Throughout his life and pilgrimage Abram is under the guidance of God.
Application
We must always be under the guidance of God. It is becoming increasingly popular now for preachers to dismiss the guidance of God, yes, even Bible believing preachers. There are many popular books published by famous people today that dismiss Christian guidance, and that is a great tragedy. It is a new fad; it is a comparatively new idea. It really has been in circulation among Bible believers only since a certain book was published in 1986, and it is wrong, completely wrong. We have to seek and believe in the guidance of the Lord. ‘I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees.’
