Genesis 2:6 Commentary and Bible Study

At this stage ‘there went up a mist’ (some people translate it ‘springs’ – it may be right – ‘mist’ in our version), ‘from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.’ What we are reminded of is that man had no part in the bringing about of plant life in the world; he wasn’t there, there wasn’t a man to till the ground. Nor was there any rain, so that God watered the earth and then he produced the plants from the earth. God sustained what he had made, and he can do so by any means he chooses. He did not overlook the needs of even the plants, and how can we worry that he will overlook the needs of his own children?
