Rebekah gives a full description of her family, prompted partly by the surprising gifts that she has just received from this stranger. Leupold suggests that her answer may have been broken up into two parts because she was interrupted after the first part of her answer by an expression of strong surprise on the part of the servant. She is the daughter of Bethuel, the son of Milcah. These were the very ones that Abraham had heard news of at the end of Genesis 22. God was overseeing his master’s affairs to an extent that he had not appreciated before. This was the very person, the one person in the world that he had come to find, and he had been led straight to her, just as his master said, by the angel sent before him by the Lord. In answer to the second part of his question, she takes it upon herself to offer the servant free hospitality and to state on behalf of her family that he and his animals are welcome to stay. She does this though as yet he has not given her the advantage of knowing anything about where he is from or what his mission is.
