With the departure of Abraham, the greatest of the patriarchs, Isaac might have felt that the blessing of the Lord had departed along with his father. But each generation has their own experiences of the Lord’s goodness. God does not give up working when the great ones of the previous generation pass from this world. The world continues to exist; the flowers continue to grow; God continues to work. Each generation has its own work to do for the Lord and needs the blessing of God, and God does not abandon his people. Thus when a great leader of God’s people passes from the scene, the next generation should continue with the work and call on the name of the Lord.
