The Lord sent Adam out of Eden. He did not go of his own accord, of course. He was sent ‘forth from the garden of Eden,’ expelled in disgrace, in disgust, with ignominy, ‘to till the ground from whence he was taken.’ And as if we do not get it, the record repeats it with even more force, in verse 24 – ‘So he drove out the man’. It is a judgment ; he is driven out; the hatred of God against sin, the sinfulness of sin, the dreadfulness of sin is all seen in those words, that they had to be driven out, like cattle.Eden is called in Revelation, the paradise of God because it represents heaven – that place where man has fellowship with God. But fellowship with the Lord has now come to an end and so man must leave the garden. Not until a person overcomes the world through faith in Christ can anyone enter into the true paradise of God. The dying thief entered that paradise, and so does everyone who sincerely comes to Christ for life.
