He proceeds with further persuasions and arguments. He flatters her and makes himself out to be her friend, interested in her good and in her gain.
Moses’ account here teaches us how to defend ourselves against the enemy of our souls. He feigns friendship, and comes to us as an angel of light. How careful we should be whenever we are flattered, not to allow ourselves to be bought by that flattery. Suspicion is good when it is directed at Satan. A wise man knows who he can trust and against whom he must be on his guard.
