This has a kind of parallel to a verse in the Acts 17 where we read of Damaris. There is Paul at Mars Hill, and he preaches and a number of people, though not terribly many, are converted, and they are named.
How remarkable that she is remembered here and is obviously mourned with great affection. This grandmother, possibly great grandmother, having lived a full and useful life, devoted to Jacob and the family and the cause, died at a very great age, and so for the first time she appears and she's named here just to remind us that with the Lord every one of his children is valued and what they do is noticed. This is an extraordinary record: so tender to suddenly turn aside to this person, who you might think is largely irrelevant to the narrative.
