Have we let him down, have we done as much as we ought? ‘Where do I stand? Lord, touch my heart.’ Pray with great gratitude for what he has already done for you. ‘Christ has died for my sins, and blessed me beyond my ability to measure, yet what have I done for him?’ We may be sure of great blessing provided we consider our ways. If you will carry out a measure of self-examination, then as concerned people you may be sure God will bless mightily. That consideration of your ways before the Lord and measured against his word, proves that you are genuine, that you make conscience of his commands. Of course, when God says, ‘Consider your ways’, there must be a willingness to change our ways if they do not match his word. We are to do this honestly, and not just to try to discharge a bad conscience.
