Haggai 2:8 Commentary and Bible Study

This refers to the silver and gold that they wanted to have in the temple, and they had had, historically. They did not have it right then under Zerubbabel, but the temple could not be entirely complete without its riches, its silver and gold, and so this was another respect in which they might have felt that what they were building was inadequate.
