The historians tell us that part of the culture was sometimes to round up people who were disapproved of, and parade them in the streets. Dispersed Christians from Jerusalem were particularly subject to this because they went to places and towns and areas where they did not belong, and they could easily be persecuted and taken advantage of by those who resented their presence there, especially as followers of Christ.
