A city fashioned by God – this eternal city is mentioned several times in the Letter to the Hebrews. A city, a heavenly place, a glory beyond human design.
Think of Abraham, living in tents for years and years and years, with his eye on the future, and that future to which God was taking him, looking for that city and walking in communion with the living God. Did you walk with him last week? Did you walk with him to keep your devotions? Did you tell him of your love for him? Did you read his word? Did you apply it to your life? Did you bring all your needs before him? Did you worship him, adore him, praise him, pray to him? Did you pray on behalf of others to him, lifting up their needs and their situation praying for their salvation? Are you going to do that this coming week to walk with God? That is ongoing faith. It is patient, it believes, it fixes its eye on the promises and the future of the Christian life and it walks with the Lord. By faith Abraham was saved, by faith Abraham lived.
