If you buy a house, you do not buy it forever. Maybe you will move to another one soon, or maybe you will die in it when you are old, but one way or another you will not keep it; it is a temporary thing. You take a job, one day you will go to another, or you may stay there all your days and retire in that work, but it will not last forever. You go to the gym and you build up fitness, and the moment you stop, you have lost it; it ebbs away. You learn and revise for examinations, and three or four weeks afterwards, you have forgotten half of it. Thirty years afterwards you have forgotten practically all of it. Everything is temporary in this life. You have a child; you will not have a child for long. The child will become an adult, go away from you, away from home. As a parent, you will have an offspring, but you will not have a child for long. Everything changes. This world, the nations, the political parties, everything is changing. There is only one sphere and one kingdom which lasts forever. Only your salvation will last you forever. Only your new birth will resound to your benefit eternally. Only the things done in Christ and for Christ will stand and only the kingdom of Christ will last. Let us hold on to grace as the only way of salvation, free salvation and pardon through what Christ has done for us. May God help us all to rejoice in these great privileges.
