Hebrews 13:19
Comments
The writer is kept from them and longs to be restored to them, and he is confident that the same longing is in them as well. We can pray for all aspects of the Lord’s work, and Scripture teaches that for special needs we can pray all the more. We always pray earnestly, but for some things we pray more earnestly, more frequently, with more scriptural arguments, for more people, with more intelligent, more heart-searching prayers. In Gethsemane, we are told, Christ prayed more earnestly. How could he ever not pray well? Yet then, the Spirit wants us to know, he prayed more earnestly.
Application
A minister prays for his people, and they for him. We must pray for one another more. Think of the effect of it. How it binds us together with closer bonds of love. How it increases patience, and opposes self-reliance. It brings the blessing of God but it also helps us. It subdues pride!
