Hebrews 13:23

Timothy had been faithful just as his example, the apostle Paul, had been faithful, and he had not compromised in order to avoid bonds for the sake of the gospel. The readers of this letter clearly knew Timothy, and knew that he had been imprisoned for the faith. They would have keenly followed his trials for the Lord with sympathy and earnest prayer, and now they were informed for their encouragement that their prayers had been answered, for which they would no doubt have given thanks.The writer hopes to see them face to face, possibly with Timothy also. A letter is a wonderful means of instruction, but both the writer of this epistle and the apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 16:12; Galatians 4:20; 1 Thessalonians 2:18) (if they were not the same person) longed to see God’s people face to face.

Questions
Evidently the writer of Hebrews distinguishes himself from Timothy, which makes clear that the comment attached to the last verse ‘Written to the Hebrews from Italy, by Timothy’ is not canonical or accurate.
