The language appears complicated, but it is really very easy. Christ did not come from the ceremonial law.
The conscience can never be convinced by a carnal or fleshly ritual performed on earth. Israel, living in Old Testament times, could take from those ceremonies the promise that God would one day send the Lamb of God, the true sacrifice, into the world, but peace with God always rested on that future sacrifice and not on the law of a carnal commandment. New Testament believers live at a privileged time, when they have so much light and can see so much more of the plan of God. This ought to produce immense gratitude in our hearts. We have only to wait for the final return of the Lord and the advent of his visible kingdom.
