In the first part of this chapter there is a review of some of the elements of the worship of Old Testament days. We don't need this argumentation as Jewish doubters needed it, or even Jewish converts in New Testament times, who were still very troubled because it was hard for them to accept that the Mosaic order of worship that prevailed in those times was over and finished, and had no enduring value.
We need to learn to prepare for worship and to be ready, to be ready to hear that opening prayer in every service and to sing the opening hymn with all our hearts. Do you come late to the worship service? We read the record of Old Testament worship and we see all the preparations, the washings of the priests’ garments, and the sacrifices that were to be offered, even to cleanse them at the level of the flesh. Do we prepare for worship? Do we consider the majesty of the God we are coming to? Or do we come flippantly, confidently, presumptuously?
