‘For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?’ No one is going to pity them or come to their aid, or even enquire how they are doing. The Lord has abandoned them, and they have no other friends.
This is a demonstration of the waywardness of the human heart. Those who go on and on refusing to change their ways are in great danger of being finally rejected by the Lord, and after that there is no possibility of recovery. God reaches the point with some individuals where he ceases to deal with them, and leaves them to the hardness of their hearts. Let all who hear the gospel regularly and do not respond, be very concerned that they do not become gospel hardened. How much sorrow human being bring upon themselves as a result of their worshipping invented gods and ideas and turning away from the living God.
